Program
Day 1 Arrival and transfer to the hotel
After welcoming you at the airport, the guide will take you to the hotel via our office to get your complete set of winter clothing. The rest of the day is free, ideal to discover the centre of Rovaniemi.

Accommodation: double room in a hotel in Rovaniemi

Day 2 From Rovaniemi to a traditional Finnish cottage by snow mobile
Around lunchtime (between 12 and 14 p.m.), the guide will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the starting point of your journey. First, he will give you all the driving and security instructions for snowmobile driving. Then, you will head towards the East, through snowy forests and on frozen lakes and rivers. You will at the beginning follow ready-made tracks, excellent for getting confidence and getting used to the snowmobile. The more you will go deeper into the forest, the more the chances are that you will make your own path through deep snow all the way to the cottage. Once there, we will first heat up the place and then prepare the sauna for the evening. After the sauna, the dinner will be served.

Driving distance: 50 KM

Accommodation: traditional Finnish cottage

Day 3 Across Korouoma national park
After a nice and energetic breakfast, we will drive towards Korouoma canyon. During the trek, we have some breaks at the best view points to simply enjoy the landscape and also take pictures. We will also from time to time go with snowshoes in spots not accessible with snowmobiles. Of course, we will get close to and admire the canyon’s magnificent ice fall. The evening and night will be spent in a traditional Finnish cottage.

Driving distance: 100 KM

Accomodation: traditional Finnish cottage

Day 4 Towards Lehtiniemi Farm
This third day will be rich in experience. In the morning, you will drive all the way to Lehtiniemi farm. Before meeting the animals, you will have a lunch around the campfire during which the musher will tell you more about huskies, life at the farm and the program for the following 2 days. In the early afternoon, the musher will give you the driving instructions so that you are comfortable with your sledge. Then, it is time to check the equipment and to prepare your husky team. After that, you are ready to go and live an incredible journey. The start is always amazing, when you feel the power of the huskies pulling the sledge and you make your path between the trees. At this time, you fully feel the spirit of the forest all around you. At the end of the afternoon, you will reach the trapper’s cabin. First, you will take care of your dogs and then you will help the guide to prepare the sauna and the dinner.

Driving distance on snowmobiles: 50 KM

Driving distance on the sledge: 15 KM

Accommodation: trapper’s cabin

Day 5 Following in the tracks of animals
The day will start with a warm tea or coffee. Then, you will first have to take care of the dogs’ morning routines before enjoying your own breakfast. After that, you will load the sledges, clean the place and hit the road. Today’s itinerary is in the middle of the Lappish wilderness. We will make many stops to observe nature, take pictures and eat around the camp fire. Maybe you will be lucky enough to see arctic foxes, capercaillies or reindeers. In the evening, you will arrive at either the trapper’s cabin or the camp site (see below). As you did the previous day, you will first help the huskies to be comfortably installed and then you will help the guide to prepare the sauna and the dinner.

Driving distance on the sledge: 60 KM

Accommodation: trapper’s cabin or tent (according to participants’ wish)

Day 6 Back to Lehtiniemi farm
The third day with huskies will probably be the best one. You are now very comfortable with driving the sledge, you know your dogs and they know you. You understand their personality, know their history, their training, their habits and the way they behave. You are then a true musher and will fully enjoy these last hours with your team. On the way back you will appreciate a last meal around the campfire. Back at Lehtiniemi farm, you will hug your dogs one last time and we will then head back to Rovaniemi by car.

Driving distance on the sledge: 30 KM

Accommodation: double room in a hotel in Rovaniemi

Day 7 Transfer to the airport
This is an experience you'll never forget. Run through the week's events as we take you back to the airport, ready for home...
