On the shore of Lake Iso Vietonen, you will be accommodated in full comfort cottages. Throughout the holiday you will have an opportunity to enjoy all of the activities that Lapland has to offer: sledging with huskies, a quiet excursion on a sleigh pulled by reindeers, a dynamic trek on a snowmobile and a full day in the life of a Lappish trapper. There is even a chance to enjoy a day of Finnish Olympics! All this, within the frozen nature of the arctic winter - superb!

Your arctic holiday includes: activities suitable for the whole family to enjoy together; the chance to experience the extreme quiet of the Lapland wilderness; a professional guide available on site throughout your holiday; the pleasure to experience Lapland in a medium sized group (maximum 24 persons).

Program
Day 1 Arrival in Lapland
Following your journey by plane and/or train (contact us for details) to Lapland, you will be transferred to your cottages in Raanujärvi. En route you will be taken to Rovaniemi where you will be kitted out with essential winter clothing. Transfer time of about 45 minutes.

Day 2 A day in the life of a trapper
Today's adventure is one you will never forget! In the morning we will put on our snowshoes and make our way to the lake to try our hand at ice fishing. Following this we will head to the forest and learn how to make a shelter from nature, as well as making a fire. The guide will also take the opportunity to tell you more about the natural environment of Lapland and the way people used to live. Once your wilderness camp is ready, you will enjoy a nice outdoor snack.

Day 3 Visit of the Reindeer farm and a traditional Finnish smoke sauna
The morning will be spent at the reindeer farm. You will be welcomed by a reindeer herder who will take you for a 2KM ride on a sleigh pulled by the reindeers. Then, you will spend some time at the farm and participate in a Lappish ceremony, during which you will learn more about the traditions of the Sàme people. A lunch will be served in the “kota”, around the fire place. Back at the cottages, you will spend the afternoon in a traditional smoke sauna. Once everybody has relaxed enough in the sauna, the New Year buffet will be served, followed by an evening surprise to celebrate entry into 2011.

Day 4 Snow mobiles, huskies and an arctic snow hotel
In the morning, after an energetic breakfast, you will head by car to Rovaniemi. There, you will jump on snowmobiles and head towards the husky farm. Once at the farm, you will be welcomed by a musher who will take you for a 3KM ride with huskies (2 persons per sleigh, riding one after another, children sit in the sleigh). Then, you will visit the premises, meet the dogs and enjoy a warm drink in the traditional Lappish hut called “kota”. On the way back to Rovaniemi, you will stop for a lunch around the fire place. In the afternoon, we will drive towards Lake Lehtojärvi and make a stop for a visit of the magical Arctic Snow Hotel, made entirely of snow and ice.

Day 5 Finnish Olympics! Team fun in the snow
You will spend this day in Raanujärvi, in the vicinity of the cottages. The group will be divided into several teams that will compete against each other through various funny snow activities: tandem skiing racing, rope-pulling, snow football, snow floor-bal, child snowmobiling, adult snow-karting… At the end of the day, the winning team will get a prize.

Day 6 Transfer back to the airport
After breakfast, you will be transferred back to the airport with a stop on the way to a souvenir shop.

Fully furnished and full comfort cottages. 2 cottages have 8 sleeping places, each suitable for one big family or two smaller families. The third cottage has room for 9 + 1 sleeping places, suitable for two or three families.

5 nights in a cottage. All transfers mentioned. All of the excursions and activities mentioned in the program. All of the meals from dinner on 29.12 until breakfast on 03.01. An English-speaking guide in site 24h who will be with the participants during all of the excursions. Winter clothing from 29/12 until 03.01: overalls, winter hat, scarf, winter gloves, woolen socks, winter boots, balaclava.
