Corsica, a paradise of diversity waiting to be explored. It offers you everything from cliffs plunging dramatically into the sea, to incredible rock formations with all sorts of distorted shapes, to leaping rivers with crystalline water and mountains covered in the scent of wild herbs. There’s no better and more exciting way to discover this wilderness environment than by sea kayak and canyoning.
Day 1 Ajaccio Meet at 9h30 at the railway station of Ajaccio where you will be briefed and prepared for the first excursion. At the end of the morning we join the peninsula of Fought de la Catagna. Initiation at the sea kayak and familiarization with boats. Dinner and at night in bivouac on the beach of Francinasca.
Day 2 Sea kayaking and the Capu di Muru Discovered by the navigation on the wildest part of the gulf, the handle Cocoa, where we continue between rocks and small creeks of fine sand. Take up to the lighthouse of Muro on the rock headland of Capo di Muro. Dinner and at night in bivouac, on the beach of Cala di Muro.
Day 3 Ajaccio - Vizzavona For this last day of kayaking we will continue between rocks and small fine sandy bays. We will paddle our way around the peninsula of Castagna before reaching the beaches of Mare e Sole and Isolella. Here we have our last opportunity to swim in the magnificent turquoise water of the Mediterranean, and to explore the colourful seabed with our masks and snorkels. We will then make our way to the pick-up point from where we will be transferred to the Col de Vizzavona, for a well-earned dinner and a night in a gite.
Day 4 A water-based excursion Today is a fun day in the river Vecchio and its sumptuous rock pools. We will make our way down the river, jumping and stepping between the rocks and into the crystal clear mountain water. This whole experience will be accompanied by a superb view of the Monte d’Oro. An unforgettable experience!
Day 5 A day’s walking amongst mountains and forests Today we will take a walk in the High Gravona region, where we can discover the multiple aspects of the Corsican Mountains and the superb forest of Vizzavona. We will walk a circuit direct from the guest house, on the route of ‘the lost woman’ and we will return on an alternative route via the ‘Cascade des Anglais’. Dinner and night in the gite.
Day 6 A day of canyoning You will spend the day in the famous canyon of Richiusa, a jewel of nature offering all the pleasures of an accessible canyon. From Vizzavona, we will travel by the small local train to join the village of Bocognano, and after a small walk in the direction of the hamlet of Busso, the instructor will equip you with a combination neoprene suit, a helmet and a harness. A short forty minute walk in the Corsican maquis will enable us to join the top of the gorge. From here you get to slide, jump, plunge your way down the best river in Corsica for canyoning, with crystal clear mountain waters. This is a great way to discover the wild landscapes of Corsica.
