CYCLING THE WAY OF ST JAMES PART 2price from 528 €
Compostela - Leisure cycling - Mountain biking - 7 days

walking-compostella
This is a chance to cycle along the world famous pilgrim route, the Way of St. James, to Santiago de Compostela. The French Way, or the Camino Frances, which was established in the late 11th century, is the most traditional of all pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela. The full route crosses the North of the Iberian Peninsula, through the Basque Country, Navarra, La Rioja, Castilla y Leon and Galicia regions of Spain until finally reaching the tomb of St James the Great.

This cycle holiday takes in the second or middle section of the French Way.

This second section passes through Leon and the vast Castillan Plateau (Approx. alt. 900m) before reaching the medieval city of Ponferrada. This particular section offers some of the most interesting historical and cultural sites including the medieval city of Burgos, which is home to a UNESCO World Heritage cathedral.

For this section, the terrain is mostly flat, making it a feasible trip for any cyclist with an average level of fitness.
