CYCLING THE WAY OF ST JAMES FINAL SECTIONprice from 522 €
Compostela - Leisure cycling - Mountain biking - 7 days

compostelle-a-velo
This is a chance to cycle along the world famous pilgrim route, the Way of St. James, to Santiago de Compostela. The French Way, or the Camino Frances, which was established in the late 11th century, is the most traditional of all pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela. The full route crosses the North of the Iberian Peninsula, through the Basque Country, Navarra, La Rioja, Castilla y Leon and Galicia regions of Spain until finally reaching the tomb of St James the Great.

This cycle holiday takes in the final section of the French Way.

Starting in the town of Ponferrada which is surrounded by mountains, and finishing in Santiago de Compostela, this section covers both the Castilla y Leon and Galicia regions. This section of the Camino crosses the magnificent O’Cebreiro Mountains before heading towards the centre of Galicia and its green hills.

This section can be physically demanding and requires a good level of fitness. However, it is also a highly rewarding stage of the Camino, offering beautiful landscapes and numerous cultural sites plus the added bonus of finishing in Santiago de Compostela, the final destination for pilgrims undertaking the Way of St James.
