The EUROPE ACTIVE adventure started in a small village south of Bastia in Corsica. We are a family run business, as well as a group of enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about the outdoors and want to share our experiences with others.

Having started small, we have expanded rapidly, but kept our small and friendly approach to our holidays. Our clients come to us direct through the internet (we don’t send out brochures as we want to save paper) but we also act as a local operator for famous agencies all over the world, including in the UK, France, Netherlands, Germany, Australia, USA and Canada.

The business is run by Anthony Laplagne (French) and his English partner, Harriet Bristow as well as by a team of friendly local staff throughout our offices (see below).

After successfully creating a wide range of holidays in Corsica, we started to go abroad with groups of cyclists, trekkers and motorbike riders from all over the world. We now have offices in Central and Eastern Europe (Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria) where we employ local specialists with an international outlook to produce numerous and varied active holiday programmes.

Our latest adventure has been to set up an office in Tuscany. We now have a great team living and working in the fabulous city of Lucca all year round. Lucky them! Active-Italy is the baby of the Europe-Active group, but keep an eye on our website, as we are growing our activities all of the time.

As with our enthusiasm, our business is ever expanding, and at the moment we have holidays that involve walking, cycling, canoeing, kayaking, diving, horse-riding, donkey riding, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, motorbike and scooter tours, as well as auto-tours.

As well as having an in-depth knowledge of the countries where we have offices, we also have explored, tried and tested many different kinds of active holidays in other countries for your benefit. As a result, we have many partners working with us to produce good quality holidays across Europe and even globally in some cases.

EUROPE ACTIVE was set up by Anthony Laplagne.

After completing his further education in business studies, he packed up his luggage and set about living and working in various places around the globe. 

Anthony has spent seven years living on the island of Reunion, two years in Hungary, one and a half years in the United-Arabs-Emirates.  All of these different adventures were an opportunity to discover new cultures and meet people involved in tourism.

Back in France, he was hired as an executive in Ajaccio, Corsica, where he became a specialist in developing local hiking holidays.

Today, with many years of experience, of technical, legal and commercial knowledge in tourism, Anthony is able to share his enthusiasm for walking, cycling and riding motorbikes through his own company, EUROPE ACTIVE.

A lifetime passion for the environment, outdoor sports and for travel came about through growing up and working in countries such as Zambia, Kenya, Dubai, Cyprus, India and Tanzania. 

Harriet (Harry) spends her spare time avidly exploring places by foot or on a bike and more recently, on her motorbike!

After graduating from a UK university with a degree in Geography she worked tirelessly for the Government, most recently as the Deputy Head of the UK negotiating team, for the United Nations Climate Change negotiations. 

Swapping the daily grind of London to the mountains of Corsica, Harry is now further developing Europe-Active for english speaking clients and is happy to answer your questions...  

Ludivine joined our team in 2009.  She has a background in tourism and has a wide knowledge of the restaurant trade, which is a big asset for our activities.  She is the one handling our accounts and your invoices and making sure that you are paying us on time!

Thomas used to work in our Corsica office and now manages our office in Lucca, Italy which opened in 2009.

As an ex-champion of moto-cross, he has always had a passion for adventure. Nowadays you’ll find him either walking, cycling or on his faithful Vespa exploring the Tuscan countryside, which he knows now like the back of his hand.

His extremely friendly countenance and his passion for quality of service will mean that you’re in good hands when booking a holiday in Italy. Thomas speaks fluent French, Italian and English, so don’t be afraid to contact him!

Basil manages the Italian office along with Thomas. His passion for bicycles is outstanding and has led him to a career of semi-professional riding. In 2010 he was 23rd in the extremely competitive road riding Tour of Corsica, whilst in mountain biking he was second in the ‘Espoir OP Saison’ in 2009. Basil ranks amongst one of the top mountain bikers in his category in the whole of France.

Now located in Tuscany, he spends his time finding the very best cycle holidays for our clients, whether for easy leisure cycling, mountain biking or road riding. Thanks to the beauty of the Tuscan countryside, he has also developed a real love for walking. He is very knowledgeable and always willing to lend a helping hand. He speaks French, English and Italian, so do not hesitate to contact him.
